On April 18 2025, during the federal election, I had the chance to sit down with my friend (and former professor) Eric Lepp from Conrad Grebel University College for a conversation on CKMS 102.7 FM - Radio Waterloo. It was a real joy to reflect on my path from physics and technology into peace & conflict studies, and how that shift has shaped the way I see community and leadership.

Eric and I also talked about why I chose the Green Party. It gives me the freedom to speak honestly and stay rooted in this community, rather than following a script from a party leader. And we touched on Strategic Voting, something I heard often at the door. My reaction was clear: in Waterloo, we don’t need to vote out of fear. We can vote for the future we want.

During the pandemic, I interviewed local faith leaders about how their communities were coping. What I found was simple but powerful: the groups that looked outward as well as inward, building connections across differences, came through with optimism and resilience. That lesson has stayed with me, and it’s a big part of why I decided to put my name forward in the election.
